County completes work on Bahia Vista Landslide repair and drainage improvement
project results in safer driving conditions during inclement weather
(Port Orchard, WA) Kitsap County Public Works
recently completed landslide repair and drainage improvements on Bahia Vista
Drive near Illahee State Park. The County's Surface and Stormwater
Management (SSWM) and Roads Division worked together to protect properties
from chronic landslide and local flooding problems. The work helps protect
properties both upland and down the slope of Bahia Vista and result in safer
driving conditions, especially during the rainy season.
The work included:
Rerouting drainage from upland
properties around steep slopes to reduce landslides
Removing unstable trees from steep
slopes to reduce landslides
Improving the drainage system along
Bahia Vista
Constructing a retaining wall along
Bahia Vista to protect down-slope infrastructure and
property
Repaving Bahia Vista
“This project will greatly benefit the residents in the
Bahia Vista neighborhood,” says Commissioner Josh Brown.“During last winter’s storm, trees and mud slid down the hill and
damaged property.The Public
Works SSWM and Roads crews worked as a team to fix this problem.”
