New sub-agency expands vehicle and vessel licensing options in South Kitsap

(Port Orchard, WA) - Convenience and customer service are the focus of the new vehicle and vessel licensing sub-agency set to open next week in south Kitsap County. Port Orchard Licensing Agency, Inc. opens for business on Oct. 3 and will provide a much needed service missing from the south end in recent years.

Currently, the Kitsap County Auditor’s Office is the only location in south Kitsap County that provides vehicle and vessel licensing services.

In 2009, the County Administration building which houses the Auditor’s Office, condensed its operating hours to Monday through Thursday as part of a cost saving effort. Since then, South Kitsap residents have had to travel outside of the area to renew their vehicle and vessel licenses on Fridays.

“By opening this sub-agency, we’re responding directly to our customers who’ve requested expanded hours,” Kitsap County Auditor Walt Washington said. “This new office allows us to not only provide service on Fridays but Saturdays as well, which we’ve never had in the south end of the county.”

Port Orchard Licensing will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday.

Subagents Randy Lais, Robyn Lais and Aaron Herbstritt will manage the business. The Port Orchard Licensing Agency is family run with Randy serving as company president and his wife Robyn serving as vice president. Randy has more than 25 years of experience as a small business manager and owner. Business partner, Aaron Herbstritt is the company’s vice president of operations.

Randy believes that a strong staff is the key to running a good business.

“We’re focused on offering the best service we possibly can,” he said. “We put a lot of emphasis on training which is why we are able to develop proficient long-term staff that operates at a high level.”

Port Orchard Licensing Agency is centrally located at 1703 Sedgwick Rd., Suite 115, across the street from Fred Meyer, which many long-time residents will remember as the old Pet Town building. In addition to vehicle and vessel renewals the sub-agency also provides title transfer, parking privileges for individuals with disabilities, and other vehicle/vessel related services.

“We’ve heard a lot of positive feedback from folks in the south end who are thrilled with the prospect of renewing their tabs on the weekend without having to travel to Gig Harbor, Belfair, Bremerton or Silverdale,” Randy said.
