Kitsap County Elections unveils new 24-hour ballot drop box in North Kitsap

(Port Orchard, WA) - A new 24-hour ballot drop box installed at the Poulsbo Fire Station on Liberty Road will allow voters in the north end of the county to deposit their ballots postage free.

Prior to this election, ballot drop boxes were available for this area on Election Day only.

“It makes sense for us to provide a 24-hour ballot box in the north end of the county where more than one-third of the county’s voters reside, which includes a large percentage of our military voters,” Elections Manager Dolores Gilmore said. “We hope voters will appreciate the convenience and security of the new ballot drop box.”

Voters will be able to drop off their voted ballots from the time they receive them, until 8 o’clock on election night, Nov. 8. Kitsap County Elections also provides a 24-hour ballot drop at the county administration building on the corner of Cline Avenue and Division Street in Port Orchard for voters residing in the south end of the county.

The new ballot drop box is ADA compliant and features high-contrast black lettering, which offers maximum visibility. The separate drive-up and walk-up deposit slots provide safe access for voters.

The ballot box is designed and manufactured locally by Puyallup based Laserfab Incorporated. And the box is constructed with heavy-duty material to provide high security and long-term durability.

Ballots for this election will be mailed to military and overseas voters on Oct. 7. Ballots will be mailed to all other Kitsap County registered voters beginning Oct. 19.
