FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Kitsap County convenes health care industry leaders to discuss
health care access
(Port Orchard, WA) -
Health care access and the needs of the uninsured and under-insured
citizens will be the topics of an upcoming forum on October 26th.
The lack of health care access creates problems for citizens with
serious health care needs. It also creates an administrative burden on
providers and it drives up health care costs for all.
County Commissioner Gelder is calling together local
health leaders from Kitsap and Jefferson counties to discuss the feasibility
of setting up a Project Access program for the residents of both counties.
A regional example of the program is Project Access Northwest (www.projectaccessnw.org),
which serves this growing need for health care access in King and Snohomish Counties by removing the logistical and
financial barriers to specialty medical care.
The forum is scheduled for October 26th at 3:00 at the Harrison
Medical Center, 1800 NW Myhre Road, Silverdale, WA, and will include
representatives of Harrison Medical Center, The Doctor’s Clinic, KPS/Group
Health, Kitsap County Medical Society, Kitsap Public Health District,
Peninsula Community Health Centers, etc.
