Kitsap County Celebrates Food Day
(Port Orchard, WA) - On Monday, October 24, Kitsap County Board of
Commissioners will proclaim the day as Food Day in Kitsap County.
Food Day is about bringing communities together to
begin a genuine and all inclusive conversation about the way we produce,
consume, and think about food in this country.
Food Day is a national grassroots campaign to inspire Americans to improve
their diets and support our local food systems and is intended to generate
recognition of the challenges we face in changing the way we think about,
produce and consume food in America.
Locally, these are just some of the events that support Food Day and our
local food chain:

Party with pumpkins provided by local farmers for kids to carve or
decorate using stencils supplied by the Food Day organizers.

class detailing the correct ways to harvest poultry for local farmers
- Thursday, October 27th - Sustainable Cinema debuts “The Greenhorns”
a documentary film about young farmers in America at the Dragonfly
Cinema in Port Orchard at 6:30 pm. The film’s director, Severine von
Tscharner Fleming, will be available for questions and discussions
following the film.
