Garrido continues to seek feedback on state
transportation task force’s work

Task Force to develop a financially-sustainable 10-year
funding strategy for the State’s transportation system the

(Port Orchard) - Kitsap County Commissioner Charlotte Garrido invites community members to a forum to discuss transportation issues that affect the Kitsap and Olympic peninsulas, related to the work of the Connecting Washington Task Force. Garrido was appointed to this task force last spring to represent counties in the region.

The meeting will be held Thursday, December 15 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m, at the Kitsap County Administration Building in Port Orchard. The first forum was held last month.

Garrido will present the Task Force’s work to date. She will also share findings from a recent Transportation Commission survey, and information about unfunded transportation needs for the coming decade, as well as a review of alternative funding methods. Her intent is to bring the ideas of
Kitsap and Olympic Peninsula’s community members to future Task
Force discussions.

“Hearing from people about local experiences will help advance this discussion in providing principles that support our area’s needs,” said Garrido.

The Connecting Washington Task Force, made up of nearly three dozen elected officials, members of state legislative transportation committees, tribal representatives, organized labor, trade associations and businesses, has met since July 2011.
