Delivery of streetlights for new roundabout delayed
Motorists urged to use extra caution
(Port Orchard, WA) – Public Works official were
informed this morning that delivery of the streetlights at the new
Silverdale roundabout is delayed until later this month. The Contractor
informed the County that the lights and poles, originally scheduled to be
shipped yesterday, will not be shipped from the Vendor until November 16th.
“This is frustrating, but there is little we can do about it,” said Tina
Nelson, Senior Program Manager for Kitsap County Public Works. “Other
municipalities, including Bremerton, are experiencing similar delays in
delivery of street lights and traffic signal equipment,” Nelson added.
Public Works will energize an existing light there, and is working on
strategies to provide some temporary illumination until the poles and lights
are installed. Motorists are urged to use extra care and caution in the
roundabout at night. If the poles arrive per the new schedule Public Works
anticipate having the lights installed and working by the end of the month.
