Sustainable Cinema Series features “What's on Your Plate” Thursday, July 26 at 6:30 pm
Dragonfly Cinema, 822 Bay Street Port Orchard

(Port Orchard) - July's film showcases a growing movement. Food value and nutrition topics provoke opinions about everyone's health. Of particular concern is childhood obesity, which has quadrupled in the last 10 years. "What's on Your Plate" features a journey through the eyes of two
inquisitive eleven-year old girls as a variety of perspectives on how food reaches a community, and the challenges encountered.

The girls follow the food chain, from the origin of the food they eat, how it's cultivated and how many miles it travels from farm to fork. They visit supermarkets, fast food chains and school lunchrooms. They also check out innovative food system practices by going to farms, greenmarkets,
and community supported agriculture programs. The film's young heroines formulate sophisticated and compassionate opinions about urban sustainability and inspire hope and engagement in others.

The Sustainable Cinema Series offers films to stimulate community discussion. The film series is sponsored by Kitsap County Commissioner Charlotte Garrido and held at the Dragonfly Cinema in downtown Port Orchard at 822 Bay Street. A $5 donation is suggested.
