County’s Planning Commission is hosting a workshop that looks at four
different areas and perspective concerning the Transfer of Development
rights. “The Kitsap County Department of Community Development is
encouraging the consideration of Transfer of Development Rights to protect
rural Kitsap County and its resources, and to provide mechanisms to focus
growth in the Urban Growth Areas,” notes DCD Director Larry Keeton.
The meeting covers what they are, why they are important, the markets
basics, a look at TDRs from a conservation perspective and the County’s TDR
Sending Site Proposal presented by the Department of Community Development.
The Sending Site Proposal identifies and maps sending areas from which
development rights can be sold.
The workshop begins at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 23 in the County
Commissioners’ Chambers at the Administration Building in Port Orchard.
Contact Katrina Knutson, Senior Planner for Community Development, for more
information.
