Community Meetings: Update on the North Kitsap Green Stormwater Study

Kitsap County will provide results of identifying feasible sites for rain gardens, bioretention swales and permeable pavement in Keyport, Indianola and Suquamish.

(Port Orchard) - In February, Kitsap County Surface and Stormwater Management (SSWM) will hold three community meetings about “green” stormwater solutions in North Kitsap. Green stormwater techniques, such as rain gardens and permeable pavement, manage stormwater on properties in a cleaner, more natural way.

“We look forward to showing the North Kitsap communities preliminary locations and projects that will result in healthier water in our streams and Puget Sound,” says Chris May, SSWM Senior Program Director. “We’ve been studying locations, identifying the potential stormwater improvement projects and would like to hear from the community.”

The North Kitsap community meetings will be held on:

  • February 7, 6:30 pm; Suquamish Elementary School Library; 18950 Park Ave NE; Suquamish

  • February 7, 7:30 pm; Indianola Beach Improvement Club; 19876 Indianola Road NE; Indianola

  • February 11, 7:00 pm; Keyport Improvement Club; Keyport Fire Station, 1863 NE Pacific Avenue, Keyport
