Sustainable Cinema Series features
“The Economics of Happiness”
Thursday, February 28th at 6:30 pm

Dragonfly Cinema, 822 Bay Street Port Orchard

(Port Orchard) - The Sustainable Cinema Series film continues with a screening of "The Economics of Happiness". It is showing on February 28th at 6:30 pm, at the Dragon Fly Cinema in Port Orchard at 822 Bay Street. The film depicts a world moving simultaneously in two opposing directions: promoting economic globalization and also a growing interest in the economics of localization.

The Economics of Happiness explores the role economy plays in our personal fulfillment as we live, work and play. The film posits that local sustainable economies can encourage us to engage with our communities and enjoy fuller lives. It asserts that “‘going local’ is a powerful strategy to repair our fractured world—our ecosystems, our societies and our selves.”

The Executive Director of Kitsap Economic Development Alliance, John Powers, will be on hand to lead a post-screening discussion, inviting lots of opinions and highlighting many strengths of our local economy.

Kitsap County Commissioner Charlotte Garrido hosts the Sustainable Cinema Series films to stimulate community discussion. Donations are gratefully accepted to defray the costs of future films, and $5 is suggested.
