Central Kitsap Community Council meeting set for May 15

(Port Orchard, WA) - This month the Central Kitsap Community Council is exploring “Safe Routes to Schools” in the areas surrounding Central Kitsap’s schools near the Fairgrounds. It has scheduled a “Town Hall” meeting at the Fairview Junior High School Library on Wednesday, May 15, at 7:00 pm to address this issue. Representatives of Kitsap County Public Works will be describing the County’s plans for improving traffic flows and pedestrian walkways in the general area around Woodlands, Cottonwood, Fairview Junior High, and Olympic High Schools. More importantly, the County is seeking help from the Central Kitsap Community (parents, students, homeowners and staff) about the County’s plans and how they should be amended and/or changed. This meeting will be a great opportunity for the Community to express concerns it may have about pedestrian and traffic safety in this area, and to have a real impact on improving safety for students and residents.
