Kitsap County awarded
"Distinguished Budget Presentation" from GFOA
(Kitsap County, WA) –
Kitsap County has been awarded the "Distinguished Budget Presentation"
award from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFAO).
The award is the highest form of recognition in governmental budgeting.
Budget documents are reviewed by member of the GFOA professional staff
and other reviewers experienced in public-sector budgeting. The award
recognizes budgets that include the very highest quality documents
that reflect both the guidelines established the National Advisory
Council on State and Local Budgeting and the GFOA's best practices on

The award represents a significant achievement by Kitsap County. It
reflects the commitment of the Board of County Commissioners and staff
to meeting the highest principles of governmental budgeting. In order to
receive the budget award, the Kitsap County had to satisfy nationally
recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation. These
guidelines are designed to assess how well an entity's budget serves as:
a policy document
a financial plan
an operations guide
a communications device
Budget documents must be rated "proficient" in all four
categories, and the fourteen mandatory criteria within those categories, to
receive the award.
