New wildlife viewing platform completed

(Port Orchard) - The Newberry Hill Heritage Park Stewardship group recently completed a new wildlife viewing platform at Newberry Hill Heritage Park. “We are pleased to provide this amenity to the community for their use and enjoyment”, stated Frank Stricklin, a member of the stewardship group and recent appointee to the Kitsap County Parks and Recreation Advisory Board.

The 8-foot square wildlife viewing platform is one of three volunteer projects the stewardship group is constructing in the 1,100-acre county park located outside Silverdale. The platform is located on the west side of the park, overlooking the wetlands along the Wildlife Trail. The easiest access to the viewing platform is from the Holly Gate on Seabeck Highway. Enter the service road and remain on it until coming to the trail junction, then turn north (left). Trail maps are available at the park and on the County Parks webpage.
