Kitsap County Fairgrounds receives safety grant
(Port Orchard, WA) - The Washington State Department of
Agriculture recently announced the award of a Capital Improvement Grant to
the Kitsap County Parks Department for the Kitsap County Fairgrounds.
The purpose of the $100,000 grant is to improve safety at the fairgrounds.
The Parks Department will match $50,000 in the form of cash, in kind
donations and labor. The list of improvement projects submitted in the grant
includes lighting upgrades in Thunderbird Stadium, the barn area, and North
Campgrounds. Other improvements will address fire code compliance,
replacement of several light poles, ventilation fans, roof repairs and
renovations of the outside hand wash stations.
