Village Greens Golf Shop to get facelift

(Port Orchard, WA) - Kitsap County Parks is taking advantage of the winter closure of the Village Greens Golf Course to improve and renovate the golf shop. The Parks Department took the course over in 2009 and has since made renovations to the course which vastly improved playing conditions, receiving rave reviews from golfers as well as the USGA Regional Superintendent.

The projects will provide a new accessible entrance and ADA restroom. In addition, the upper room of the shop will be made into a rentable lounge area. This room will receive a makeover through deep cleaning, painting, and making repairs to the walls, ceilings, and floors. The lower room will offer apparel and merchandise for sale, as well as become the main entrance. The county has contracted with Bruce Weir to provide merchandise for sale at the shop, and to provide lessons for all levels. Weir is a PGA professional and has been in the business since 1987.

As weather conditions change, the Parks staff will paint the exterior of the building and add planter boxes and plants. The Parks Department is seeking partners to help defray the costs of both phases of the project.

Village Greens Golf Course is a public 18 hole executive golf course with a driving range and practice putting and pitching greens, located on Fircrest Drive SE, in Port Orchard.
