Volunteers needed for park clean-up

Kitsap County Parks and the Salmon Park Stewardship Group invite the public to join them for a community work party on Saturday, February 8 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The work party will be removing non-native plants and enhancing trails. Salmon Park is located on the southeast corner intersection of Chico Way NW and NW Golf Club Hill Road. Bring work gloves and personal tools. Basic hand tools and refreshments will be provided.

Salmon Park goes by several other names, including Time Oil Property, Chico Creek Park, Salmon Viewing Park and Keta Park. The 4.5-acre undeveloped site was formerly an abandoned gasoline station. The land was acquired by Kitsap County to be developed as a park as it is one of the premier local sites to view migrating salmon in the fall.

Kitsap County Parks Department’s mission is to provide quality of life enhancing opportunities through the management of natural areas and specialized facilities, foster community stewardship, and offer an outstanding service-oriented environment.
