New online guide provides higher education resources for veterans

(Port Orchard, WA)  A new veteran’s guide, Higher Education Resources for Veterans and Their Families, is available here. The guide contains more than 150 resources to help student veterans and their families overcome the challenges of high education and career training after active duty. “The guide is a great resource that help veterans transition back to school when they complete their service,” according to Jim Mckenna, Program Coordinator for the Veterans Advisory Board. “The guide includes great tips and addresses a wide variety of issues veteran’s face during the transition,” Mckenna added.

The free 20-page guide includes extensive research by Ron Kness, a 36-year veteran of the Army. His assignment as Supervisor of Military Personnel Services provided him with a wealth of knowledge, training and experience working with GI Bills, scholarships, grants and loans for post-secondary education. The guide addresses the many challenges that college-bound veterans face daily, including those of a financial, social, academic, medical and geographic nature. It also provides valuable information and resources vetted by actual student veterans who experienced, and overcame, these challenges first hand.
