Golf for free on March 10th at Village Greens
Village Greens Golf Course in Port Orchard opens for the season

(Port Orchard, WA)  The Village Greens Golf Course, in Port Orchard, opens for the 2014 season on Monday, March 10 at 8:00am. All are welcome, including new golfers, to golf for free on this day. The course will be open from 8:00 am to 5:45pm. Guests can participate in contests and earn prizes for putting, chipping, and being closest to the pin. In addition to the contests, Bruce Weir, the new golf professional at the course will offer free instructional clinics at intervals throughout the day.

Weir, who is also the new contracted merchandiser at the course, has over 35 years experience as a PGA golf professional, including holding the positions of Assistant Golf Professional at Lake Padden Golf Course in Bellingham, Monroe Golf Course, and Everett Golf Course, as well as Head Golf Professional at Cascade Golf Course in North Bend.

Village Greens Golf Course is located at 2298 Fircrest Drive SE in Port Orchard, across from the Orchard Heights Elementary School. March hours at the course are 8 a.m. to 5:45 p.m. Wednesdays through Mondays. The course is closed on Tuesdays for maintenance. The course, owned and operated by Kitsap County Parks Department, is an 18 hole executive golf course with a covered driving range, putting green, chipping green and offers rentable clubs and pull carts. Opening Day Schedule:

  • Putting Contest, Chipping Contest and Closest to the Pin competition on hole 1 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

  • Golf Clinics with PGA pro Bruce Weir

        9 to 10 a.m
        Full Swing at the driving range

        10:30 to 11:30 a.m.
        Short Game at the chipping and putting greens

        12:30 - 1:30 p.m.
        Myths of the Golf Swing in the lounge

        2:00 - 3:00 p.m.
        Open Forum - Ask the Pro in the lounge
