Explore the wonders of Puget Sound with Kitsap Beach
(Port Orchard, WA) WSU Kitsap Extension and UW SeaGrant
are proud to present the 2014 Beach Naturalist training, which is open to
the public. If you want to learn more about marine life and local water
issues while exploring beaches, then this is the class for you!
Thursday evenings March 20 through April 24
6 to 9 p.m.
Poulsbo Marine Science Center
Adults and teens are welcome to attend.
Children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult.
Cost for 6 weeks is $65. Scholarships are available.
During training you learn about sea creatures including clams, crabs,
seaweed, salmon and invertebrates. The training includes outdoor field trips
to Manchester State Park, Lion’s Park, Silverdale Waterfront Park, Kingston
Marina and Beach, and Kitsap Memorial State Park.
After the training trained Beach Naturalists can choose to volunteer in
exciting service projects, including beach explorations, local community
events and service projects that help protect and enhance Kitsap shorelines.
