Norwegian Point Park Improvements

(Port Orchard, WA) The The Hansville Greenway Association recently completed a new gazebo at Norwegian Point Park. Long-time Hansville community members Sid & Jeanne Knutson donated most of the funds for the project to honor Hansville Greenway volunteers. “We are excited to provide this public gathering point to the community for their use and enjoyment”, stated Ken Shawcroft, a member of the Hansville Greenway Association. The gazebo was built by Salo Brothers Construction of Poulsbo, with help from Hansville volunteers.

The 6-sided, ADA accessible gazebo provides park visitors an attractive place to gather and use a colorful display map to plan a walk around Hansville and the Greenway. The map shows visitors numerous walking and driving choices to local features including Buck Lake and Point No Point County Parks, along with the connecting Hansville Greenway hiking trails. The gazebo also provides great views of Puget Sound’s Admiralty Inlet and Whidbey Island. Norwegian Point County Park is located in “downtown” Hansville at the intersection of Hansville Road and Twin Spits Road, adjacent to the Hansville Market and Hansgrill Restaurant. Kitsap County Parks Department’s mission is to provide quality of life enhancing opportunities through the management of natural areas and specialized facilities, foster community stewardship, and offer an outstanding service-oriented environment.
