Serving on advisory boards gives citizens chance to review boundaries, property taxes, county code
Applications open for Boundary Review Board, Board of Equalization and Planning Commission

(Port Orchard, WA) - Kitsap County residents have the opportunity to provide input to re-mapping boundaries, assessed property taxes and county code revisions by serving as representatives on county advisory groups. There are currently vacancies for an at-large representative on the Washington State Boundary Review Board; a District 1 (North Kitsap) representative on the Board of Equalization; and District 1 (North Kitsap) and District 2 (South Kitsap) representatives on the Kitsap County Planning Commission.

The Boundary Review Board representative will serve with governor-appointed members to review boundary extensions within land-use plans. The Board of Equalization is an independent body that hears appeals to Assessor determinations, including property values and home improvement exemptions. The Planning Commission assists the Department of Community Development in the preparation and implementation of the Comprehensive Plan, including public hearings and the review of ordinances and code updates.
