Silverdale Sub-Area Plan reviewed at CK Community
Council meeting in January
Public encouraged to attend and provide input
(Port Orchard, WA) – Citizens in the Silverdale
area have the opportunity to review their sub-area plan with the Central
Kitsap Community Council at a public meeting 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 15
at the Silverdale Beach Hotel, 3073 NW Bucklin Hill Road, Silverdale. The
public is welcome and encouraged to attend.
Sub-area plans are part of Kitsap County’s Comprehensive
Plan, a document that guides development, regulations and use of resources
to form a road map to a community’s common vision for the future structured
around the Washington State Growth Management Act. At the public meeting,
the Central Kitsap council will provide valuable insight and present the
current sub-area plan review, recommendations for revisions and
accomplishments since the last updates in 2008.
Community input is vital to ensure the issues, day-to-day
concerns and wished-for improvements are reflected in the update. Staff from
the Kitsap County Department of Community Development, which is leading the
Comprehensive Plan update, will be on hand to answer questions and record
Kitsap County’s Comprehensive Plan update, Kitsap 2035: Growing for a Better
Tomorrow, is currently underway throughout the County. The Comprehensive
Plan directs policy and regulation in the areas of land use, zoning,
environment, health, parks, human services, roads, utilities and economic
development. State law requires it to be updated every eight years to
reflect current analysis, planning, revisions to the Growth Management Act
and community needs. The two-year process will conclude in 2016.
