Anderson Point Park to reopen May 21

(Port Orchard, WA) - The Kitsap County Parks Department announced Anderson Point Park will reopen to the public Thursday, May 21. The park, located off Millihanna Road in Olalla, will be accessible from 6 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. daily through spring; hours will change in June to reflect daylight hours.

“It’s such a wonderful park and we’re very happy to see it open again!” said Kitsap County Commissioner Charlotte Garrido. The 66-acre park in South Kitsap has saltwater beach access, picnic areas and viewpoints of Colvos Passage and Vashon Island. It was closed in 2010 due to landslides that caused severe damage.

Improvements to Millihanna Road will continue to be phased in throughout the year. Kitsap County Parks Director Jim Dunwiddie noted completion of the work is expected to require future temporary and short-term closures of Millihanna Road and the park, but the work will be scheduled to minimize these.

Parking is restricted to designated areas only. Vehicles blocking the entrance to the park or parked on road shoulders will be towed at the owners’ expense. For more information on Kitsap County Parks, visit
