Candidate filing begins May 11

(Port Orchard, WA) - This year’s election includes a wide array of local offices such as Port, Fire, Water, Park and Sewer Commissioners; School District Directors; a number of City Council seats and a Mayoral race. A complete list of offices open for filing with the appropriate filing office and fees is available at:

Kitsap County’s online candidate filing system continues to be the easiest and most popular way to file for office. With online filing, candidates may submit their forms electronically and pay filing fees using a credit card. Online filing also allows candidates to submit statements and photos for the voters’ pamphlet electronically from the comfort of home.

“The local offices open for election this year are a very important part of shaping our government at the closest level.” said Kitsap County Auditor Dolores Gilmore. “I am committed to ensuring the Auditor’s office provides tools and information to help candidates easily and successfully navigate the process.”

Online filing begins at 9 a.m. on May 11 and is available until 4 p.m. on May 15. Candidates may also file in person at the Kitsap County Auditor – Elections Division Office from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., May 11–15.

Candidates may also submit their filings by mail. All filing fees are due by the close of filing, 4:30 p.m., May 15, and are non-refundable. The deadline to withdraw is 4:30 p.m., May 18.

Kitsap County Elections provides a comprehensive Candidate and Campaign guidebook which is available online and at the Auditor’s Office.
