Conference for Human Rights celebrates 25th year
Suquamish Chairman Leonard Forsman featured speaker

(Bremerton, WA) – Tickets are now on sale for the 25th Annual Kitsap County Conference for Human Rights, which takes place from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, December 4 in the Kitsap Conference Center, Bremerton. This year’s conference focuses on “Where we are … Where we are going: A look back on human rights issues in Kitsap County over the last 25 years.” Through panel discussions, workshops and networking, the Conference for Human Rights brings people together to educate and foster communication, understanding and collaboration.

This year’s conference features Leonard Forsman, chairman of the Suquamish Tribe since 2005 and tribal council member for over 20 years who will present, “10,000 Years of History Here on This Land.” A long-time advocate for tribal education, cultural preservation and habitat protection, Chairman Forsman also serves on the state Board on Geographic Names and President Obama nominated him to serve on the U.S. Advisory Council on Historic Preservation.
