Nimitz Crew volunteers sweep through Kitsap County Parks
(Port Orchard, WA) - The Kitsap County Parks Department would like to express their sincere appreciation for the efforts of members of the USS Nimitz. Recently, nine volunteer crews, consisting of 117 men and women, provided 521 hours of volunteer service to our community. Projects included removal of non-native invasive vegetation, trail maintenance, planting of trees and native vegetation, refurbishing a parking area, renovating a baseball field, clearing downed trees and branches from a disc golf course, and general park cleanup.
These folks were remarkable representatives of the USS Nimitz! The park stewardship volunteers and park staff who led the projects, were very impressed by the work ethics, professionalism and attitudes of the crews.
Kitsap County Parks Department’s mission is to provide
quality of life enhancing opportunities through the management of natural
areas and specialized facilities, foster community stewardship, and offer an
outstanding service-oriented environment.
