Opportunity to review local services, community development grants

(Port Orchard, WA) - Opportunities are available for Kitsap County citizens to serve on local advisory groups that help with the allocation of funds for capital and community development projects and services. Play an important part in the review process for Kitsap County Community Development Block Grants, HOME Program funds and Homeless and Affordable Housing Grant Programs. These funds help support housing assistance, senior and special needs housing, weatherization, new public facilities for non-profit organizations, economic development, food bank support, scholarships, family services and much more.

Applications are now open for those interested in serving on the Kitsap County Grant Review Committees. Kitsap County has traditionally distributed Federal Community Development Block Grants and HOME funds to projects that promote community and individual well-being.

Citizens who make up each committee assist Block Grant Planners in developing draft action plans and conducting public meetings to review proposals for use of block grant funds. Volunteers are needed to represent consumers of services and Kitsap County residents. To learn more about the grant awards, go to

Applications are currently being accepted for a North Kitsap Representative on the Capital Committee and a Central Kitsap Representative on the Services Committee. Position descriptions and more information are available at

If interested, please apply as soon as possible. For questions about the committees, contact Bonnie Tufts at or call Volunteer Services at (360) 337-4650.
