Road improvements planned at Chico Way NW
(Silverdale, WA) –
A road maintenance improvement project on Chico Way NW from the State Route
3 interchange to the Silverdale Way NW roundabout begins July 11. The
2.26 mile project restores the existing pavement on Chico Way NW and
increases the service life of the roadway.
The project involves removing two inches of existing asphalt in the travel
lanes and replacing it with two inches of new asphalt. This will result in a
safer driving surface for the traveling public. The construction activities
are confined to the existing paved areas within the project limits.
One lane of traffic will be maintained in the work zone throughout the
project. A pilot car will be used to guide traffic through the work area.
Motorists can expect delays of up to 20 minutes in the immediate vicinity of
the work during the project. Immediate access for emergency vehicles is
maintained at all times. Crews will maintain access to driveways, excluding
a brief period when paving occurs directly adjacent to the driveway. This
will allow the asphalt to cool.
The project should be complete in early August. The work is being done by Lakeside
Industries, Inc. from Port Angeles, WA, and is fully funded by Federal
Highway Administration (FHWA) under the Surface Transportation Program.
