County begins intersection improvements at NW Myhre Road
and Silverdale Way NW
Orchard, WA) – Kitsap County’s Department of Public
Works begins improvements at the intersection of NW Myhre Road and
Silverdale Way NW beginning in mid-August, 2016. The project constructs
intersection and channelization improvements designed to alleviate
congestion and improve operational efficiency. The work will occur
during night hours closing the intersection to traffic between 7:30 p.m.
and 6:00 a.m. Sunday through Thursday. The project is expected to be
completed by mid-December, 2016.
The project constructs an 11-foot wide right-turn
lane on NW Myhre Road for traffic turning north onto Silverdale Way NW.
The project also reconstructs the pedestrian curb ramps to meet the current
ADA standards and installs raised pedestrian islands adjacent to the new
The project also includes upgrades to the traffic
signal system at the intersection and new illumination along NW Myhre Road.
Additionally, improvements to the stormwater collection and conveyance
system, including two tree-box biofiltration units to improve water quality,
are included in the project.
Once the road and stormwater improvements are
complete, the intersection will be planed, re-paved, and re-striped to
enhance the driving surface. The work is being done by Lakeside Industries,
Inc. and is fully funded by Kitsap County’s Road Fund.
