New Olympic Workforce Development Council director appointed

(Port Orchard, WA) –  The Olympic Consortium and the Olympic Workforce Development Council are pleased to announce the appointment of Elizabeth Court as the new director of the Olympic Workforce Development Council. She will begin her new position Aug. 25.

Ms. Court comes to the position with a solid background in economic and market research, having served in high-level positions in both private and public sectors with a focus on business development and education. Her professional experience includes positions as a labor economist for the Washington State Employment Security Department, assistant director for University of Washington Educational Outreach, Pacific division marketing manager for Maersk/SeaLand and, earlier in her career, she served as a “radioman” in the US Coast Guard.

Ms. Court has experience working with business and government leaders in Clallam, Jefferson and Kitsap counties, and conducted labor market research that included the development of WorkForce Sector Strategies in the three counties. She has also worked with federal agencies and tribal, state, and local jurisdictions.

As a labor economist for the Employment Security Department, she did research to support workforce development and other one-stop efforts for job seekers and employers, analyzed economic and labor market data for clients in Kitsap, Jefferson, Clallam, Island and San Juan counties, and served as media liaison on economic topics. She also prepared articles, reports, and briefings about the economy, employment, labor market and public policy issues for use by private sector clients, government agencies, elected officials, and other workforce and economic development councils.

Ms. Court earned a master’s degree of business administration degree from Seattle University, a master’s degree in port and marine transportation management from the University of Washington, and a doctorate from the University Of Washington College of Forest Resources. She currently serves as a senior planner and demographer for Kitsap County’s Department of Community Development.
