SR 305 corridor improvement survey results available

(Silverdale, WA) – Survey results for the State Route (SR) 305 Corridor Improvement project are now available.  SR 305, which runs from The Bainbridge Island ferry terminal to SR 3 in Kitsap County, is a vital corridor for residents, businesses, and visitors. An online survey was recently conducted to identify key transportation issues within the corridor.

The survey was sponsored by Kitsap County, the City of Bainbridge Island, the City of Poulsbo, the Suquamish Tribe, Kitsap Transit, and the Washington State Department of Transportation. It is part of a planning study to identify transportation strategies and projects to improve the SR 305 Corridor. Funding for potential projects comes from a $38.6 million transportation revenue package dedicated for SR 305 construction and safety improvements as part of the Connecting Washington revenue package passed by the Washington State Legislature in 2015.

Over 1,200 users of SR 305 responded to the online survey. Of those, 66% said they use SR 305 “daily” or “more than three days a week as commuters”. The remaining 33% indicated they use the corridor “occasionally”.  The survey also revealed that nearly 90% of those who use the corridor are traveling in single occupant vehicles.
