Due to freezing weather conditions, Kitsap County Department of Emergency Management will activate the county’s Severe Weather Shelter Plan.

The Coffee Oasis will house teens only, the Communitas Building will be for Bremerton, South Kitsap, and Central Kitsap citizens and First Lutheran Church in Poulsbo will activate for Poulsbo and North Kitsap citizens. All the severe weather shelters will open today at 6 PM, Monday, March 8, 2010 and again Tuesday evening, March 9, 2010.

These shelters serve all in our area who require safe overnight shelter where none is available. The locations are as follows:

Hours of operation will be from 6 PM until 7 AM. Once the shelter has closed (9 PM) for the night, no one will be allowed back in.
