NW Hite Center Road
Culvert Replacement Project (CRP 3650)
A
severe storm in December 2007 washed out the existing culvert and road
embankment. The current
36 inch culvert was placed as an emergency, temporary fix until an
appropriately sized replacement could be designed and constructed. The
Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife assisted in the
determination of the appropriate channel width for this drainage basin
which resulted in the proposed 12 foot span concrete structure. A new
stream channel will be constructed through the new structure with
streambed aggregate and rock bands for long term sustainability of the
project. This new widened channel allows for fish passage under the
roadway and provides long term safe access for Hite Center residents.
A single lane, temporary bypass will be maintained throughout the
project duration.
Replacing the existing CMP culverts with a bridge
and realigning the roadway will:
- Allow for fish passage under the roadway
- Provide safer, long term access to the residents west of
the Seabeck Creek crossing.
