Division Avenue and Suquamish Way 
Road and Drainage Improvements

This project encompasses Division Avenue from Columbia Street to Suquamish Way, and Suquamish Way from Division Avenue to Augusta Avenue, in North Kitsap County.

These proposed improvements are the result of combining needs and dollars:

• Division Avenue was identified within the Suquamish Community plan developed in 2005 as an area to improve pedestrian facilities
  
  
• A drainage study from 1999 identified drainage issues and conveyance requirements within Suquamish.
   
• Roads in need of maintenance and repair
  

The Suquamish Citizens Advisory Committee and the Suquamish Elementary School were the catalysts behind an application for a Safe Routes to School Grant, received in 2007. This grant laid the funding foundation for sidewalk improvements within Suquamish. The Federal sidewalk grant combined with dollars from the Storm and Surface Water Utility (SSWM) for drainage improvements, and the Road fund for road improvements, led to three (3) significant improvements within Suquamish. The first completed in 2008, Augusta Avenue (Center to Geneva); the second completed in 2009, Geneva Street (Augusta to Division) and Park Boulevard (Geneva to Prospect); and now the third to be constructed in 2011, Division Avenue and Suquamish Way.

  Planned improvements include:

     Division Avenue (Columbia Street to Suquamish Way)

• Two twelve foot wide travel lanes
  

• A five foot cement concrete sidewalk on the west side of
  the road
  

• Landscape swales on the east side of the road
  

• Drainage improvements including a large storm sewer and conveyance
  

• Replacement of the existing water main by Kitsap Public Utility District (PUD)
  

     Suquamish Way (Division Avenue to Augusta Avenue)

• Storm water conveyance
