Chip Seal Fact Sheet

Chip sealing “seals” the underlying pavement surface to prevent water intrusion into the sub-base material. It also rejuvenates the underlying asphalt from the effects of oxidation while providing a good driving surface and higher friction. NEW High Friction Surface Treatment (HFST) Pilot Safety Project Coming Soon! Kitsap County Public Works will install High Friction Surface Treatment (HFST) at seven curve locations throughout the county. The locations were identified based on their collision history. The contractor for the project is DBi Services. The work is scheduled to begin early fall. Click here for more information on the pilot project.
