Chip Seal Fact Sheet

Chip sealing “seals” the underlying pavement surface to prevent water intrusion into the sub-base material. It also rejuvenates the underlying asphalt from the effects of oxidation while providing a good driving surface and higher friction. NEW  Chip Seal Pilot Project
Kitsap County’s Department of Public Works has contracted with a contractor to provide a Chip Sealing Pilot project at five locations in Port Orchard. The pilot project involves various asphalt surface sealing treatments on the following roads; Hillandale Drive E, Hillandale Court E, Madrona Drive SE, Pine Tree Drive SE, and SE Pine Tree Drive. For evaluation purposes, each road will have a slightly different application.

The work will occur between mid-August and the first of September. The Contractor will provide advanced notification of specific dates work is to be conducted.
