Transportation Improvement Program (TIP)
Public Works prepares for Board approval the Six Year Transportation
Improvement Program (TIP) and Annual Construction Program. The
purpose of the TIP is to update and coordinate the County's future plans
for road and transportation improvements.
The transportation improvements (TIP) were adopted by the Board of
Commissioners on December 12, 2011.
Project Selection Process
Prior to the adoption of the TIP, the Board of Commissioners conduct
formal Public Hearings as required by law to ensure everyone has the
opportunity to provide their input and suggestions in this process. It
is very important the Public has input into this process. The
prioritization process is a highly subjective one and we need public
input in order to balance the judgments we make.
Project Evaluation System
An evaluation system is used for the selection of transportation projects for
funding in the County's TIP program. Projects that are placed
into the process are scored and ranked using objective criteria. These
criteria include safety and/or capacity needs, structural condition,
availability of funding and timing of the funding, especially for State
and Federally funded programs.
