Topic: Central Kitsap County Wastewater Facilities Plan Update

Sewage System Planning Meeting January 24

Port
Orchard, WA Kitsap County Public Works is seeking residents to help update the Wastewater Facilities Plan that was prepared in the mid 1990’s.   This is the first in a series of meetings that will help guide the plan update. The plan needs updated to reflect changes in projected population growth, to meet more stringent environmental protection measures, and to take advantage of improvements in wastewater treatment technologies.

This meeting focuses on developing a public participation process that identifies the planning issues vital to the creation of a new Facilities Plan. Public participation helps define policy issues, develop project evaluation criteria, and prioritize future projects. The goal of the plan is to ensure balance between the level of service and the costs for service. Public participation helps to identify and prioritize future wastewater system capital improvement projects so the goals of the plan are met.
