Judge Roof graduated from University of
Houston, and earned his J.D. from University of Washington School of
Law.
Judge Roof worked as a deputy prosecuting attorney for Kitsap
County subsequent to graduating from law school. He served as
part-time Poulsbo Municipal Court Judge for 22 years in addition to
practicing law for 25 years in Poulsbo.
Appointed to the Kitsap County Superior Court Bench in 1994,
Judge Roof has been re-elected for subsequent terms. Judge
Roof was instrumental in implementing the Kitsap County Adult
Drug Court Program and has presided over it since 1998. Drug
Court is a treatment based program for adults who are charged with
certain felony crimes and facing criminal prosecution. It
offers non-traditional and individualized treatment for chemical
dependency as an alternative to criminal prosecution and features a
team approach to rigorous treatment, coordinated with intensive
supervision, random drug and alcohol testing, regular and frequent
court appearances and educational opportunities. The Kitsap
County Adult Drug Court has become a Mentor Court with the U.S.
Department of Justice.
Judge Roof currently serves as the Assistant Presiding Judge for the Kitsap
County Superior Court Bench. |
