DESCRIPTION: This course is designed to instruct Law Enforcement Officers in Vehicle Pursuit Operations. Heavy emphasis is placed on vehicle dynamics, skid recovery, understeer, oversteer, eye placement, and control techniques. The EVOC training is offered two times a year, spring and fall.

A short review of the following exercises offered at EVOC:

  • Hazard Avoidance Exercises
  • Serpentine Forward
  • Serpentine Backwards
  • Spike Strip/Stop Stick Deployment
  • Mock Pursuit Scenarios
  • Autocross Course-Medium Speed
  • High Speed Pursuit Course
  • Precision Placement Course
  • Classroom Driving Review/Training
  • Skid Car Training
  • Case Law Update
  • Pursuit Immobilization Technique P.I.T.

This multi-jurisdictional training offers a large instructor pool. This allows scheduling flexibility, low overtime costs, and low overhead costs. This also provides safety in having neighboring jurisdictions familiar with each other’s pursuit policies, intervention techniques, and radio procedures. Currently the following agencies participate/provide instructors:
