Inmate Correspondence

Acceptable items for U.S. mail delivery to inmates include: letters, money orders, cashier's check, photographs, newspaper clippings, written documents forwarded for signature and legal mail between attorney and inmate. All other items are considered contraband and will result in the envelope and its contents being returned to sender or investigated for criminal violation. Items shipped via Federal Express or United Parcel Service (UPS) to any inmate will not be accepted. The following is a list of reasons why mail would be returned to sender:

Inmate to inmate correspondence
Cash or personal checks
Items which are sold in the commissary (stamps, stamped items, paper, envelopes)
Dark-colored or black paper; gel pens, metallic ink
Polaroid pictures with backings
Tobacco or tobacco products
Sexually explicit photos or other materials, including nude/semi-nude photos
Racist or other inflammatory materials, including gang symbols/hand gestures
Stickers, including address labels; glitter; confetti; glued on items; white out
Perfume, cologne, or scented items
Unknown substances on paper, envelopes, photos
Lipstick
String; metal clasps; hard plastic; cardboard
Blank cards and/or postcards
Food items
