Engaging Kitsap Citizens
Healthy Watersheds and a Cleaner Puget Sound

The public education and outreach program strives to inform Kitsap citizens that stormwater receives little or no treatment before it flows into our bays, streams, and lakes. This program targets key audiences and encourages them to make small changes in their everyday activities to improve the overall health of Puget Sound. Kitsap SSWM funds education and outreach programs in
Public Works, the Kitsap Conservation District, WSU Extension,
and Kitsap Public Health District. Each partner agency implements
the program in their area of expertise, including working with
residents, commercial properties, farms, septic systems,
stream restoration, and training volunteers.

These programs slow the water and reduce pollution. We build relationships with citizens through action programs that result in "on the ground" water quality improvements.
