Multi-Family Recycling Program for Property Managers

As a Property Owner or Manager, you are the key to the success of any recycling program. When conducted effectively, with good communication between residents and staff, a recycling program cuts waste collection costs, and helps the environment.

As an Owner/Manager, you understand the importance of receiving the most for your money.

  • Up to 50% of materials the average person disposes of can be recycled, and that’s more cost effective than throwing it away.
  • Dead air space in a dumpster is expensive; there’s no need to pay for half full dumpsters.
  • Recycling is the most effective way to pay the least amount possible for waste collection services.
  • Recycling service is included in the cost of garbage service, so recycle all you can because it’s already paid for.

As the Owner/Manager, your participation is crucial to the success of your recycling program.

  • You set the tone by example.
  • You encourage active participation and monitor feedback with your staff and residents.
  • You provide education and outreach by offering materials we provide.
  • You make financially and environmentally sound decisions for your multi-family community.

The Solid Waste Division provides the following assistance for promoting tenant recycling:

  • Resource binder and publications (please call for quantity) to help implement an appropriate waste reduction and recycling program for your residents.
  • Presentations at tenant association meetings and community room events, or information for tenant newsletters, emails, and new tenant packets.
  • Signs listing what can and cannot be recycled for posting on enclosures, containers, and bulletin boards, and flyers for tenants.
  • Assistance obtaining recycling containers from haulers, annual monitoring, and technical support.
