What Do I Do With It?

Plastic Bottles, Jugs, and Dairy Tubs 

YES: Plastic soda, juice, and water bottles; milk jugs; bottles that held cleaning products; empty white pill bottles; detergent jugs; shampoo bottles; and dairy tubs (such as held yogurt, pudding, and margarine).

RINSE bottle and discard caps.

NO: Amber pill bottles, bottles or jugs that held motor oil or lawn/garden chemicals, plastic wrap, buckets, plastic pipe.

OTHER: Plastic grocery bags may be returned to most grocery stores but are not accepted at Recycling and Garbage Facilities. Plastic packing peanuts may be returned to most pack and ship companies (see Packing Materials).

KNOW and LEARN: Recycled plastics may be remanufactured into pipes, park benches, plastic lumber, carpeting, t-shirts, fleece outerwear, and tote bags. Recycling one ton of plastic saves the equivalent of 3.85 barrels of oil.

Remember to cover your load when transporting to reduce highway litter. It’s the law!
