West Hill Water District Commissioner - Bainbridge Island

The Kitsap County Commissioners have been informed that there is only one Commissioner of the West Hill Water District (on Bainbridge Island) remaining in office. State law (RCW 42.12.070) requires the county Board of Commissioners to appoint a qualified person so the district will have two members who may appoint the third member.

Water districts are established under Washington State Codes for acquirement, construction, maintenance, operation, development and regulation of a water supply system. These systems may include one or more incorporated cities and towns.

Water District Commissioners serve as the legislative authority for their districts. They set the policies and objectives of the district, approve the budget and hire and oversee a staff of water professionals who implement the policies and objectives.

As a special purpose district, the Commissioners may levy regular property taxes to provide services to the water district it serves. Additionally, with voter approval, the Commissioners may issue bonds and impose excess levies for specific purposes.

Candidates must reside and be a registered voter within the defined are of the West Hill Water District #20. Candidates are requested to complete an application for consideration for appointment.

Applications accepted until position is filled.
