Long Term Care Ombudsman Volunteers

The Long Term Care Ombudsman Program promotes the interests, well-being and rights of long term care facility residents in our community. Every day volunteer ombudsmen can be found at long-term care facilities throughout the state visiting residents and monitoring their care. Consider becoming a trained and certified volunteer ombudsman. Apply Now! Four-day trainings are scheduled as needed.

Long Term Care Ombudsmen
u Advocate for the rights of residents
u Investigate and resolve concerns made by or on behalf of residents
u Work with residents, families, friends, operators and facility staff to meet the needs and concerns of residents
u Provide public education about long term care facilities and governing regulations
u Visit residents in assigned facilities on a weekly basis
u Commit to providing at least 4 hours per week of Volunteer Ombudsman service for at least one year.
