Kitsap County Public Works owns and operates the wastewater treatment plants servicing Central Kitsap, Manchester, Suquamish and Kingston. The collection system includes 128 miles of sewer lines through the utility areas. There are 68 lift stations in the County collecting and pumping the wastewater over hilly terrain to ultimately arrive at one of the treatment plants for processing.

Treatment plant in Kingston was built in 2005 The wastewater treatment facility serving the community of Kingston was completed in May 2005.

A communications network using radio frequency monitors the activities at each (un-manned) pump and lift station. The wastewater may travel as much as 10 miles to a treatment facility, and each station is mission critical. At each treatment plant, a network of computers are monitoring the processing activities: pumps, presses, UV disinfection, flow levels, well levels, etc. Trouble alarms are transmitted instantly so staff can be dispatched to resolve problems.

Waste water processing is a twenty-four hour operation. There are sixty (60) full-time employees reporting to the Sewer Utility Manager.   Each division has a unique area of responsibility and works together to keep processing facilities flowing, trouble-free:
