Water infrastructure plays a critical role in protecting public health, promoting economic prosperity, and ensuring quality of life across the United States. Though largely out of sight and out of mind, many of these complex systems are aging, neglected, and in need of immediate national and local attention. Liquid Assets is a fascinating documentary that explores the critical role of our nation's water infrastructure.

Local broadcast of this award-winning documentary is provided by BKAT. The documentary can been seen on channel 3 for Wave Cable subscribers, and channel 12 for Comcast subscribers. The show airs on these dates at the times indicated:

  • Wednesday, September 30th — 10:00 a.m.

  • Saturday, October 3rd — 11:00 a.m.

  • Friday, October 9th — 3:30 p.m.

  • Monday, October 12th — 10:00 p.m.

Water is an essential building block for life, and a critical element in the life of our communities. We don’t think much about it when we turn the handle and water pours out, but a complex infrastructure bring us water, takes it away for treatment it after we use it, and contains and directs stormwater runoff. In most cases that infrastructure is aging.

"We’re very pleased to be able to present this award-winning documentary on local cable television in Kitsap County," said Charlotte Garrido, Chair of the County's Board of Commissioners. “It tells the story of essential infrastructure systems: drinking water, wastewater, and stormwater and provides a catalyst for ongoing discussions about local water infrastructure and other important civic issues," she said.

These complex and aging systems throughout the nation—some in the ground for more than 100 years—are critical for basic sanitation, public safety, economic development, and a host of other necessities of life. This documentary highlights communities from across the United States, and provides an understanding of hidden water infrastructure assets, demonstrates watershed protection approaches, and illustrates twenty-first century solutions.

"I hope you’ll watch and then help develop solutions that protect our water resources," said Garrido. Click on the link below to view a trailer about the program.
