Kingston Water Reclamation Project

Kitsap County is supporting efforts to implement regional water reclamation projects through a regional Wetlands, Irrigation, Stream Enhancement, and aquifer Replenishment (WISER) Water program.  Kingston Waste Water Treatment Plant was selected as one of the four facilities in the County to evaluate for production of reusable water.

Water discharged through wastewater treatment plants (WWTP) to the marine waters of Puget Sound represents a volume equal to approximately 30 percent of the total groundwater withdrawals. Reclaiming and returning this water to the freshwater system may be an effective way to help meet future water demands, replenish aquifers and enhance summer base water flow in local streams.
