Limited Income Deferral Overview

The limited income deferral program postpones payment of the second installment of your property taxes and/or special assessments. Participants must apply each year with the Assessor's Office no later than September 1.

To qualify, you must own your home for more than five years, occupy it as your primary residence and have an annual income of $57,000 or less (proof of income required).

If the property owner meets all of the requirements, the Department of Revenue will pay the second installment of the taxes and special assessments to Kitsap County on behalf of the taxpayer. The deferred amounts paid by the state become a lien and must be repaid to the state, plus interest, when you no longer own and use the property as your primary residence.
